Why she might be annoying:

    The name of her family hacienda (ranch) literally means ‘the bowl’ or ‘the mug’.
    She had a bob cut.
    The novel ‘Iphigenia’ depicts its male characters as politically corrupt and loose on morals.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She is regarded as an important figure in Venezuelan literature during the first half of the 20th Century.
    She spoke out against the restrictions wealthy Venezuelan women had to live under.
    Her characters personify character qualities found in Venezuelan society.
    Venezuelan president Juan Vicente Gomez didn’t give publishers money to publish her novel ‘Iphigenia’ because some of her characters personify the corruption that was prevalent in the government.
    Her second novel, ‘Souvenirs of Mama Blanca’, was a fictionalized form of her childhood, when she was raised in a hacienda.
    She got TB while attempting to research about Simon Bolivar.
