Originally one of the proponents of the New Age movement, he basically backstabbed it by criticizing its current trends.
Why he might not be annoying
He initially declined several offers from spiritual and metaphysical organizations to give lectures on his experiences before giving in to pressure because he wanted to focus on his studies.
He criticizes the use of channeling in the New Age movement nowadays.
He wants people to be creative and compassionate to others.
