    He died five days after his birthday.
    At the time of his death, he had grown unpopular with many in the NFL, and there was a campaign to get him replaced.
    He was one of the leaders of the 1987 players' strike.
    He told a newspaper that he was going to 'break [Joe DeLamielleure]'s Goddamn neck!
    He played for the same team for his entire career.
    NFL players' salaries went up significantly during his tenure.
    He had an amicable relationship with NFL commisioners Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell.
    He stood up for what he believed in.
    He was ranked number 62 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players.
