    No role ever seemed beyond him.
    He was married to actress Renee Asherson for 3 years (1953-56).
    He died before his final film 'The Inn of the Sixth Happiness' was released.
    As a child, he took elocution lessons to overcome a stutter.
    He hated Hollywood and only made one film there (1934).
    He beat Clark Gable in 'Gone With The Wind' for the 1939 Oscar.
    He was only able to complete 'The Inn Of The Sixth Happiness' with the help of oxygen due to chronic asthma (1958).
