    Also appeared in 'Two Hearts in Waltz Time' (1930), 'Ball of Fire' (1941), 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' (1942), 'Christmas in Connecticut' (1945), 'In the Good Old Summertime' (1949), 'Lullaby of Broadway' (1951) and 'The Student Prince' (1954)
    In later films he was billed as S. Z. 'Cuddles' Sakall.
    He was typecast as an excitable foreigner.
    He complained, 'Later the writers made no attempt to put any humor or wit into my roles. They merely added as a piece of business: 'Here Sakall shakes his jowls and slaps his own face!'
    His three sisters, a niece and his wife's brother and sister died in concentration camps.
    He displayed his US citizenship papers on the mantel of his home.
    Actor Leonid Kinskey said, 'He was one of the happiest married men I ever met.'
