He was the sixth and final member of the Three Stooges, and the only non-Jewish member.
He is the least popular member of The Three Stooges.
He lived within blocks of Joe Besser, yet they never met.
He was divorced.

Why he might not be annoying:

He took on the name 'Curly Joe' to honor two of his predecessors, Curly Howard and Joe Besser (Is that where Pope John Paul, got the idea?).
He had a strong resemblance to Curly Howard.
He was graceful for a man of his girth.
Towards the end of his life his eyesight was so poor, that he would only leave home to go to the doctor.
