    He was responsible for 5 work stoppages in baseball.
    Red Barber called him one of the 3 most important people in baseball history.
    He overthrew the 'reserve clause' so that players did not have to be stuck with one team if they didn't want to.
    He ranked #7 on Sports Illustrated's 40 For the Ages.
