Why he might be annoying:

He was sometimes billed as ‘Pansy.'
The circle around his left eye was partially painted on (three quarters of it was real, though).
There is a bizarre urban legend that he shares a grave with Carl ‘Alfalfa' Switzer.
He is often confused with the many Petes that replaced him after his death, including his son.
He has become a poster boy for pit bull advocates.

Why he might not be annoying:

The unique ring around his eye earned him a mention in ‘Ripley's Believe It Or Not.'
His makeup artist was Max Factor.
Although best known for the ‘Our Gang' shorts, he also appeared in several ‘Buster Brown' films.
He co-starred with Stan Laurel in ‘Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pryde.'
He proves that not all pit bulls are a bad lot.
He was killed with glass-laced meat by someone with a grudge against Hal Roach.
