Basketball Player
    (January 30, 1964- )
    Born in Jacksonville, Florida
Shooting guard / Small forward for the Denver Nuggets (1986-87), Golden State Warriors (1987-1989), Orlando Magic (1989-1992) and the Solna Vikings (Sweden) (1996-97)
General manager for the Orlando Magic (2006-12)
He was primarily used as a bench player prior to his stint with Orlando.
Some basketball pundits felt his success with Orlando was a result of playing on poor Magic teams.
Despite not playing for four years, he came out of retirement to play a year in Sweden.
He shares his name with a former NFL player.
He was fired after he poorly handled the Dwight Howard situation in the media, that led to the latter getting traded.
He only hired Stan Van Gundy as the team's head coach after his original choice, Billy Donovan, backed out of the contract hours after the agreement (2007).
He is the first player in the history of the University of Jacksonville basketball program to record more than 1,700 points and 900 rebounds during his four years with the team.
He was a member of the original Magic roster (1989-90).
He earned MVP honors in his lone season playing in the Swedish Basketball League (1996-97).
He was the architect of the Magic team that made their second NBA Finals appearance in franchise history (2009).
He created the Otis Smith foundation which worked with underprivileged children in the Jacksonville area, prior to its closure in 2007.
