He smoked weed.

His marriage suffered due to his violent outbursts.
During a 1983 match against Luis Resto, he lost unanimously despite being the favored fighter.
Why he might not be annoying
During the fight with Resto, both eyes were swollen shut, his iris was torn and his vision was permanently blurred.
Resto conspired with his trainer, Panama Lewis, to remove padding from Resto's gloves and soak his hand wraps in plaster.
When this information came to light, both Resto and Lewis were convicted of assault, with Resto's fists acting as the deadly weapon.
Collins' family stated the boxing incident mentally broke him.
