    Barney Hill (1923-February 25, 1969)
Betty Hill (June 28, 1919-October 17, 2004), birth name was Eunice Elizabeth Barrett
    Residents of Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials (September 19-20, 1961)
Recalled the abduction under hypnosis (January 4-June 6, 1964)
Subject of the book 'Interrupted Journey' (1966)
Betty had been obsessed with UFOs ever since her sister claimed to have seen one (1957).
Until he was hypnotized, Barney said that they had seen an airplane.
Their supporters point out that the Hills were hypnotized separately to keep them from influencing each other.
However, during the more than two years that passed between the 'abduction' and hypnosis, Betty had been continually writing and rewriting her accounts of her dreams about the UFO encounter.
Betty described the aliens as short guys with black hair and 'Jimmy Durante' noses, while Barney described them as skinny figures with gray skin, large bald heads and huge black eyes.
Betty's description of the aliens switched to the 'grays' after she heard Barney's sessions.
Less than two weeks before Barney described the gray aliens, an episode of The Outer Limits, 'The Bellero Shield,' featured a remarkably similar alien.
A UFOlogist who accompanied Betty on a UFO vigil (1977) commented that she could not 'distinguish between a landed UFO and a streetlight.'
They were members of the NAACP and Barney sat on a local board for the US Civil Rights Commission.
Radar at both Pease Air Force Base and North Concord Air Force Station recorded an unidentified object on the night of the Hills' abduction. (Although the Air Force concluded, based on the radar target's high altitude and low speed, that the object was a weather balloon.)
Barney's description of the 'greys' has become the standard for aliens in UFO sightings and abduction claims.
Betty claimed she tried to take an artifact from the spaceship with her but was stopped by the aliens.
Betty appeared on the show 'Lie Detector,' hosted by F. Lee Bailey, and passed a polygraph test.
