    Played for Orange County Blue Star (2005), Heerenveen (2006-07), Columbus Crew (2007-11), Leeds United (2012-13) and the LA Galaxy (2013-17)
    He is the third member of his family to be named Robert Hampton Rogers.
    He enjoys body surfing.
    He initially announced his retirement from soccer after announcing his homosexuality.
    Many casual sports fans are oblivious to the fact he was the first openly gay man to play a North American team sport, due to the fact he wasn't playing on a sport in the Big Four.
    He sat out the entire 2017 season due to injuries, which led to him opting to retire for good.
    He is the first openly gay man since Glenn Burke to play in the North American professional sports ranks.
    He helped spearhead Major League Soccer's 'Don't Cross The Line' initiative to combat homophobia in team sports.
    He was a fan of soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
    He counseled Jason Collins on how to handle the media attention when the latter came out.
    He studied at the London College of Fashion Design and started the Halsey clothing line following his retirement from soccer.
