Why he might be annoying
He was one of the first organizers of Turkey City, a chain of critique workshops in Texas.
His first novel 'Involution' was a science-fictional pastiche of Herman Melville's 'Moby-Dick.'
During the 1980's, he used the alias Vincent Omniaveritas for editing 'Cheap Truth,' a series of science fiction newsletters.
He held an annual Christmas party in his yard that featured digital art.
Why he might not be annoying
He was appointed Professor at the European Graduate School (2003).
He is one of the founding fathers of the cyberpunk genre of science fiction.
He has been the inspiration of two Web projects: The Dead Media Project and The Viridian Design Movement.
