He was a song and dance man years after that kind of entertainment went out of style.
His second wife was seventeen years younger than him.
His career slumped in the 1960's, and he wound up choreographing Jerry Lewis movies and had a recurring role in Mickey Rooney's failed sitcom.
He hosted several short-lived game shows in the 1970's.
He took his stage name from a poster of Van Johnson his sister had on her wall.
Many believe if he had been around years earlier, he would have been a much bigger star.
    His parents were vaudeville actors.
Despite being known as a 'song and dance man,' he never took dancing lessons.
He continued working after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, right up to just weeks before his death.
He was nominated for a Tony for his role in 'No, No, Nanette.'
He was a friends with Mickey Rooney and frequently worked with him.
