The Resume

    (February 17, 1912-March 17, 2005)
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
Graduate of Case Western Reserve University
First woman to win the Gandalf Grand Master and Demon Knight Memorial Grand Master awards
Science fiction author with over 300 published works

Why she might be annoying:

She legally changed her name from Mary Alice Norton to Andre Norton because she thought her target audience, teenage boys, wouldn't buy books written by a woman.
    Her own bookstore failed.
Only one of her works was ever filmed, and it was the dreadful 'Beastmaster.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She is far and away the most successful female science fiction author of all time.
Her writing career spanned over seventy years!
Her 'Witchworld' books were written over a thirty year period, include over thirty volumes and inspired the multi-volume fantasy series, such as 'Eragon,' common today.
She worked as a librarian in the Cleveland public libraries and the Library of Congress long after she could have retired.
