    (January 30, 1934-October 30, 2016)
    Born in Lynn, Massachusetts
Appeared in the films 'Play It As It Lays' (1972), 'Somebody Killed Her Husband' (1978), 'Can't Stop The Music' (1980), 'The Stuff' (1985), 'Slaves of New York' (1989) and 'High Art' (1998)
Appeared on Broadway in 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown' (1961), 'High Spirits' (1964), 'The Only Game In Town' (1968), 'Private Lives' (1970), 'California Suite' (1976), '42nd Street' (1980) and 'Orpheus Descending' (1989)
    Won two Tonys
    Married to Christopher Plummer (1956-60)
    Mother of Amanda Plummer
Although she played the title role in 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown,' she won a Tony in the supporting actress category. (At the time, you could be nominated for a Tony for a lead role only if you had above-the-title billing, and Grimes was not considered a big enough star for that.)
She turned down the part of Samantha in Bewitched.
Her own 'Tammy Grimes Show' was cancelled after only four episodes (1966).
She said that she and Christopher Plummer stopped speaking to each other after a few months of marriage.
She tried out for the US Olympic swim team (1952).
She was discovered at a cabaret by Noel Coward.
While she was dating Sammy Davis, Jr., she was slashed on the hand with a razor and a few months later was beaten during a mugging by four white men who called her a 'nigger lover' (1965).
