U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (July 23, 1948- )
    Born in Baltimore, Maryland
    Former member of Orleans (1972-77)
    Represents New York's 19th District (January 2007-January 2011)
    Democrat

Why he might be annoying:

Orleans singer Lance Hoppen said of his political speeches during concerts, 'It's one thing to make a passing comment. It's another to do a five-minute, detail-oriented diatribe about nuclear power.'
While campaigning, he supported medical marijuana, but he voted against the Hinchey-Rohrabacher Amendment to prevent the DEA from raiding and arresting medical marijuana patients.
He was reportedly the only member of Congress receiving campaign contributions from former governor Eliot Spitzer not to return the money after Spitzer resigned in a sex scandal.
He is probably the only member of Congress to pose topless with four other dudes.

Why he might not be annoying:

Before forming Orleans, he wrote songs for Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt.
He can segue from talking about the time Bruce Springsteen opened for Orleans in 1974 to advocating for universal health care.
While campaigning, he appeared on The Colbert Report's 'Better Know a District' segment and harmonized with Stephen Colbert on 'Dance With Me.'
He was the first Democrat to win his district since World War I.
