The Resume

R&B/new jack swing group formed in Oakland, CA
    1988-97 and 2003-06
    D'wayne Wiggins - lead vocals & guitar (February 14, 1963- )
Charlie Ray Wiggins (aka Raphael Saadiq) - lead vocals & bass (May 14, 1966- )
    Timothy Christian Riley - drums (December 10, 1965- )
Recorded 'Little Walter,' 'The Blues,' 'Feels Good,' 'It Never Rains (In Southern California),' 'Whatever You Want,' 'If I Had No Loot,' 'Anniversary' and '(Lay Your Head on My) Pillow'
Featured on the 2004 Alicia Keys song 'Diary'

Why they might be annoying:

Though there were other 'background' band members, they represented themselves as a trio (two brothers and their cousin).
Their first hit 'Little Walter' garnered criticism from the gospel community for using the melody from the gospel standard 'Wade in the Water.'
Gangsta rappers accused them of 'selling out' by watering down core messages while capitalizing on the hip-hop genre.
Saadiq wanted a solo career which led to the group's first break-up.
After a 2006 new jack swing tour, when Saadiq was asked if there were plans for a full reunion or album, he simply replied, 'I don't think so.'

Why they might not be annoying:

Their name comes from an in-joke of one of D'wayne's high school pals, who said teachers would comment on his fashion style by saying 'Tony, Tony, Tony' in an Italian-American accent.
Of their four albums, one went gold, two went platinum and the fourth went double platinum.
They had four Top 10 hits on the Singles chart and 14 Top 10 R&B hits, including five that reached #1.
Their collaboration with Alicia Keys gave them their first Top 10 hit in 11 years and their first ever #1 U.S. Dance chart hit.
They participated in a successful 2006 new jack swing tour with BLACKstreet, SWV, Guy and After 7.
