Why he might be annoying:

He turned down a college football scholarship after high school.
He was forced to retire from wrestling, after he sustained a serious injury.
His final album ‘III’ was a commercial failure (it didn’t help that the record label put on his three biggest hits on this album to get more sales).
He did not record another full length album following the release of ‘III.’
His music career faded into obscurity following the release of his final single ‘Put A Redneck In The White House.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was inspired by his experience in the school choir to pursue a music career full time.
He reached the WCW’s main roster, earning a storyline angle with Curt Hennig.
He recorded seven singles on the Billboard country charts between 1999 and 2001.
His decision to walk away from his music career was stemmed by a desire to want to provide a stable life for his family, without having to be away for extended periods of time.
He hosted a morning radio show alongside Cledus T. Judd for a few years, following his decision to walk away from recording.
