    He managed the Astros to a losing season of 72-90 their first season at Minute Maid Park.
    He was fired by the Astros after the team was eliminated in the first round of the 2001 MLB playoffs.

    He struck out Willie Mays during the first inning in his MLB debut as it took place on his 18th birthday.
    He was a fan favorite in Houston.
    He threw a no-hitter against the Montreal Expos (July 9, 1976).
