The Resume

    (January 15, 1982- )
    Born in Cumana, Venezuela
Pitcher for the Texas Rangers (2007), Detroit Tigers (2007-10), Arizona Diamondbacks (2011) and Houston Astros (2012)
    Career win-loss record 26-34
    4.78 ERA
    346 strikeouts
Best known for being deprived of a perfect game by a bad call by umpire Jim Joyce (June 2, 2010)

Why he might be annoying:

After 2009, he was sent to the minors for large hunks of each season.
After his Major League career ended, he joined Taiwan's Brother Elephants team and pitched ten games before being released (2014).
He said he did not want his near-perfect game to be his legacy: 'It gets annoying. Seeing all the reporters, all they want to talk about is the perfect game, almost perfect game. What happened with the call? Blah, blah, blah.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He seemed less upset at being deprived of a perfect game than umpire Joyce was at realizing he had blown the call.
He was gracious in accepting Joyce's apology.
His and Joyce's handling of the situation were widely praised for creating a positive event out of a negative.
He was presented with a 'Medal of Reasonableness' by Jon Stewart at the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.
