She derived 'C.Z.' from her brother calling her 'Sissy.'
She spent six months in Hollywood attending 20th Century Fox's acting school, but without appearing in a film: 'I had no talent at all, but I enjoyed every minute of my experience.'
She said about being a parent, 'I think children are better brought up with a governess.... That doesn't mean I never saw them. Of course I saw them. I went fox hunting with them.'

Ernest Hemingway was best man at her wedding to Winston Frederick Churchill Guest (March 8, 1947).
She posed nude for Diego Rivera.
'Harper's Bazaar' called her 'the beacon for WASP style.'

She was one of the few high society figures not to turn on Truman Capote after he published 'Answered Prayers.' (Probably because she had been smart enough to realize that a notorious gossip is not the best person to tell embarrassing incidents from your past that you want to keep secret.)
She noted her husband's reaction to her successful marketing of herself: 'He's flabbergasted. He's so used to me spending money, he never imagined I could be making money.'
