Animal Expert
    (August 12, 1946-September 6, 2012)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Naturalist and television presenter
Hosted the children's shows 'Animal Magic' (1978-84) and 'The Really Wild Show' (1986-90)
He would skip school to go to the London Zoo and jump the fences into the elephant enclosure.
He spent his teen years living in Scotland with naturalist/author Gavin Maxwell although he later said, 'I must admit I'd never let any of my kids go off to live with some strange bloke.'
While living with Maxwell, he lost the ends of two fingers after being bitten by an otter.
His hair was always unkempt on TV.
One of his later shows, 'My Life as an Animal' in which people lived alongside farm and zoo animals, was described by one reviewer as 'Terry Nutkins' bonkers show.'
He appeared in a tribute to Steve Irwin despite having dissed Irwin's shows as 'dreadful, dreadful television.'
He befriended the elephants in the London Zoo, impressing their surprised keepers.
He restored the historic Fort Augustus Abbey on the shores of Loch Ness.
He hand raised a California sea lion (named Gemini) from infancy.
He was an enthusiastic TV host.
He was described as having 'an almost mystical connection with nature and animals.'
