Mascot

The Resume

    (1978- )
    Brother and sister duo
Mascots for The Saitama Seibu Lions baseball team (debuted in 1978)
Based off of characters created by Osamu Tezuka

Why they might be annoying:

Japanese lions? There's something you don't see every day...
Lina picks on her younger brother, often pulling his ear or pushing him down.
They are directly based off of characters from Osamu Texuka's 'Kimba the White Lion' cartoon, which is probably best known for being (allegedly) plagiarized by Disney for 'The Lion King.'
Actually, Lina was created specifically for the team although her character design very closely resembles the titular 'Kimba' character.

Why they might not be annoying:

    They are silly and playful.
They have been essential to boosting tourism to both Tokyo and the Saitama region.
They were used on the team's baseball cap and helmet, as well as general local merchandise, for decades.
Leo appeared on the players' uniform all throughout the 2014 season.
Leo is known for his acrobatic ability, and frequently doed flips and handstands for fans at games.
