His encounter with the poison gas led to him developing acromegaly, a condition that deforms the bones and tissue.
His acromegaly soon distorted his body into freakish proportions.
His wife left him because of his new appearance.
He was a kind man that suffered from prejudice because of his looks.
He has a cult following.
