TV Personality
    (April 9, 1972- )
    Born in Caracas, Venezuela
Host of Univision’s 'Sal y Pimiento'
Frequently billed by his nickname, 'El Fashionista'
Executive Producer and frequent guest host for Univision's 'El gordo y la flaca,' 'Premio lo Nuestro a la música latina,' 'Primer Impacto,' and 'Noche de estrellas: Premios juventud'
Board Vice President of the International Youth Circle Museo del Barrio in New York City
Fired by Univision after making racial remarks in reference to First Lady Michelle Obama, while guest-hosting 'El Gordo y la Flaca' (Mar. 2015)
Like most 'TV fashionistas,' his humor is crass.
He became Univision's own Jimmy the Greek.
He is friends with the lecherous Bachelor from hell (and fellow Venezuelan), Juan Pablo Galavis.
He made the poor career choice to joke about Michelle Obama looking like a cast member of Planet of the Apes.
He said in his Emmy acceptance speech that he wanted to give the award to Paulina Rubio for getting caught by the paparazzi urinating off a boat.
Tabloid photos surfaced in TV Notas showing him speedo-clad with his partner at Haulover Beach, Miami's most popular destination for nudists and gay men (Aug. 31, 2010).
He relies excessively on hair gel - according to his co-host Lili Estefan, he would arrive on the Univision set saying 'wow, my kinky hair is out of control!'
He issued a 'too little too late' apology after his termination, among other things claiming he couldn't be racist because he voted for Michelle's husband twice.
It didn't help matters much that his professional role model was Joan Rivers, who drew controversy near the end of her career for calling Michelle Obama 'a tranny' (his show is basically 'Fashion Police' in Spanish).
The controversy surrounding his firing reached a boiling point when Raven-Symone defended his comments during her appearance on The View, saying 'some people just look like animals.' Further outrage ensued on social media (Mar. 19, 2015).
He is close friends with co-host Raúl de Molina.
He won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Talent in Spanish-language Daytime Television (2014).
His career began when he so impressed the Telemundo staff during his one-week internship that he was offered a full-time job after the week was over.
He has an extremely close relationship with his mother and credits her for his success on television.
He helped found 'I Love Venezuela,' a non-profit which donates funds to Venezuela-based schools and charities.
He has also been active with St Jude Hospital, Be-Live, Aid for Aid Foundation, Salvadorian American Humanitarian Foundation, Hope for Haiti Now, and Friends of Children with Cancer in Latin America.
His comments may have been taken out of context (he was reacting to expert makeup artist Paulo Ballesteras transforming himself into Michelle Obama).
His termination resulted in his being virtually scrubbed from the Univision website and also cost his endorsement contract with Colgate Toothpaste.
He claimed in his open letter apology that he was mainly offended by the racism accusations because he came from a biracial family, with a black Afro-Latino father.
He was vocally defended by his co-hosts, who disapproved of his joke, but who also found his firing to be an overreaction. It is also widely believed that Jorge Ramos threw him under the bus to maintain his coveted access to the White House.
