TV Series
    (1988-1990)
TV series sequel to the 1953 movie, 'War of the Worlds'
Starred Jared Martin as Harrison Blackwood, Lynda Mason Green as Suzanne McCullough, Philip Akin as Norton Drake, Richard Chaves as Colonel Paul Ironhorse, Rachel Blanchard as Debi McCullough, Denis Forest as Malzor, Adrian Paul as John Kincaid and Catherine Disher as Mana
Premise: A secret scientific/military team fights the alien survivors of the 1953 invasion of Earth
The aliens did not die as was originally thought, but entered a state of suspended animation until an accidental exposure to radiation revives them
It ran just under two seasons.
One of the premises of the show was that most of humanity had somehow just forgotten about the 1953 invasion.
The first season was set in contemporary times, but for unexplained reasons, the second season was set in a futuristic dystopia and the team went from being a government agency to underground guerrillas.
Only Martin and Green appeared in every episode.
It never received a major award and its only nomination was one for the 1990 Saturn Award for Best Drama series.
It had an attractive, talented, and ethnically diverse cast. Philip Akin portrayed one of the few handicapped characters to be a regular on a TV series and Richard Chaves portrayed the only Native American TV series regular outside of westerns.
The gore/sex/profanity was thankfully kept to a minimum.
It didn't overdo it on the special effects.
It echoed 'The Invaders' and was a precursor to 'The X-Files.'
Its final episode wrapped up the story very well.
