Born in Washington, District of Columbia
    Raised in Brooklyn
Vocalist for the Broadway production of 'Hair' (1968-72)
Recorded '(If You Let Me Make Love To You Then) Why Can't I Touch You?,' 'I Don't Wanna Cry,' 'When You Get Right Down To It,' 'One Man Band,' 'Just Don't Want To Be Lonely,' 'The More You Do It' and 'All Over Your Face'
Acted in the 1969 film 'Putney Swope'
Died in Philadelphia of a heart attack at age 40
He had a baby face his entire adult life.
His only speaking part in 'Hair' was to sing the opening theme - 'Aquarius.'
By 1981, he had changed record labels, to no avail, as his career stalled and he faded from the charts.
His last recording was a 1991 posthumous duet with Vicki Austin, which only made it to #79 on the R&B chart.
Many Broadway fans of 'Hair' were captivated by his opening song line 'When the Moon is in the 7th house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars.'
He scored a Top 10 Billboard Singles chart hit with 'Why Can't I Touch You?' in 1970.
He had six Top 40 hits on Billboard's R&B chart, including 1976's 'The More You Do It,' which reached #6.
He was in ill health during most of the 1980's and died far too young, just five months after his 40th birthday.
