Why he might be annoying
He tried to buy the Chicago White Sox but failed to do so.
He is allegedly well connected in the underworld.
He paid former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards $400,000 in exchange for the ex-governor's help to get a riverboat casino license.
That deal ultimately cost him ownership of the 49ers.
He failed to get the 49ers a new stadium.
The 49ers have been statistically one of the worst teams in the NFL since he turned them over to his sister.
Why he might not be annoying
He is not only one of the most successful sports owners in history, he completely turned around the 49ers, which were one of the worst teams in the NFL in the 1970’s.
He is the first ownership group to win 5 Super Bowls, and the only undefeated NFL team with more than one world championship.
He left his football people alone to make personnel decisions.
Players loved him.
He was a pioneer in race relations, often giving opportunities to minorities in the front office.
At the team Christmas party, he always had an African-American Santa Claus as well as a Caucasian.
He was discriminated against when he tried to buy the White Sox because of his Italian heritage.
