Performed in vaudeville (1925-9)
Under pen name Diana Serra Cary wrote ‘Hollywood Posse’ (1996) and ‘Hollywood’s Children’ (1997)

Why she might be annoying:

She began acting at 19 months.
Her first costar was Brownie the Wonder Dog.
Her father said she had no real talent and just followed instructions well.
By age eight she was a has-been.
She did not attend school until the late 1920s.
Her films are often confused with those of another actress called Peggy Montgomery.
She ran away from home and married young to escape her parents.
Out of her 150 short features, only five survive.

Her father was Tom Mix's stunt double.
She was one of the top child stars of the silent era.
She expertly mimicked stars such as Pola Negri and Rudolph Valentino.
When still a toddler, she worked long hours and performed dangerous stunts.
She was the Democratic Convention’s mascot and appeared onstage with Franklin D. Roosevelt (1924).
Her father destroyed her career by arguing over her contract.
Her parents wasted millions of her earnings.
She now lobbies to improve conditions for child performers.
