Why Electric Company might be annoying:

    ‘Heyyyyy, yooouuu guyyyyyyyyyys!!!’
Many of the sketches, particularly the Spidey Super Stories, were beyond corny.
Morgan Freeman was terrified of the possibility of typecasting — particularly in connection with the Easy Reader character.
June Angela, as Julie, was the only lifelong Short Circus member (the others lasted one to four seasons each).
Perhaps realizing the success of Sesame Street in stealing their audiences, the major networks refused to air their promotional special.
It inspired a loosely-related superhero/music program on the PBS Kids bloc.

Why Electric Company might not be annoying:

Its humor was meant to be more mature than its begetter and thus appeal to an older fan base.
It was borne in part out of Richard Nixon’s decision to dub the 1970s the Right to Read Decade.
Nixon’s directive inspired the U.S. Department of Education to call the Children’s Television Workshop.
‘The Cos’ had the idea of including kids in the lineup.
Most students who previously had bad educational habits couldn’t wait to get into the classroom to watch.
The Short Circus did a song about poison, which was not meant to be a public service announcement.
Many segments, particularly most Spidey Super Stories, could be used with more than one sound cluster (for example, ‘Spidey Meets the Spoiler’ could be used with at least two).
An immigrant could learn English by watching.
Moreno credits the show with inspiring her daughter to read.
Angela has almost no problem performing ‘Julie Is My Name’ in middle age.
