Religious Figure
    (June 6, 1949- )
Received a degree in Religion from Azusa Pacific University (1975)
    Protestant missionary in Mexico
Composed, arranged and produced music for Manuel Bonilla
Announced his conversion to atheism (January 1984)
Wrote 'Losing Faith in Faith (1992)'
PR Director of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (1987-2004)
At 15, he decided to commit himself to a 'lifetime' of Christian service.
He traveled the country for 17 years as a full-time evangelist.
After reading non-Christian books for five years, he decided he was no longer a Christian.
He was in the middle of a recording project with a religious firm and had to finish it regardless of his newfound atheism.
Even though he is no longer a Christian, he earns royalties from dorky children's musicals he wrote while a Christian.
Despite his new-found atheism, he is tasteful to others with religious views.
Many of his religious friends stopped talking to him after he announced his atheism.
He is the same good person he was while a Christian.
When he told his strongly religious parents of his new views, they ended up adopting atheism too.
He said of his parents' conversion: 'It makes me realize that there is something that soars high above religion. There is something in life that is far superior to Jesus, more excellent than dogma. Real love, kindness, and intelligence know no barriers.'
He is a strong supporter of the separation of church and state.
