The Resume

    (September 13, 2005-March 28, 2017)
FOX TV series about a group of scientists at a fictional museum (based on the Smithsonian) in Washington DC who help an FBI agent solve crimes
Stars Emily Deschanel as Dr Temperance 'Bones' Brennan in the title role and David Boreanaz as FBI Special Agent Seely Booth
Also features Michaela Conlin, TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor and John Francis Daley
Inspired by the novels of Kathy Reich

Why Bones might be annoying:

    It is a CSI ripoff.
The premise is ludicrous: the FBI has the finest forensics facilities in the world and only employs outside consultants in special cases.
It usually shows the FBI investigating crimes that it would not handle because they are not federal offenses and which could easily be handled by its usual forensics team.
Much like on CSI, the scientists, especially star Emily Deschanel, perform tasks they have no training in and would never be allowed to do in real life, such as questioning suspects and notifying the next of kin of a death in their family.
The opening theme music is ripped off from Special Unit 2.
Deschanel's atheistic, emotionally repressed character comes across as a bad Spock imitation.
Although Deschanel is the title character, co-star (and producer) Boreanaz is listed above her in the opening credits.
Practically everyone on or connected with the show gets some type of producer credit.

Why Bones might not be annoying:

It has a very attractive cast.
The guest-starring characters are well written and often quite imaginative.
Michaela Conlin's character is the daughter of ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, who occasionally guest stars.
It has done very well in the ratings, especially considering it has a great deal of competition from the innumerable police procedurals on television and has done very well in syndication.
The production values are outstanding and the directing is excellent.
The on screen relationship between Deschanel and Boreanz is reminiscent (in the best possible way) of the Scully/Mulder relationship on the X-Files, but with the believer/skeptic roles reversed.
