Why they might be annoying:

Their first keyboardist and bassist were anonymous.
Their self-titled debut album was released about four months behind its original scheduled date (Valentines' Day 1984).
Derry and Johnnie were the only members of the group to remain two decades after its inception.
While working on their third album in Los Angeles (1987), Dee was hit by a car at LAX airport. Michael McDonald worked with the band in the meantime.

Why they might not be annoying:

The band name was a tribute to their geographical location (an internationally renowned honeymoon hot spot).
‘New Girl Now' won a homegrown song contest sponsored by a Toronto radio station in 1983 (and exposure on Miami Vice).
They were an opening act for such artists as Billy Idol, Jethro Tull, Bryan Adams, Heart, ZZ Top, Journey and the Stray Cats.
They received a Juno (Canadian Grammy equivalent) for Group of the Year in 1986.
It took a ten-inch pin to fix Johnnie's leg.
