    He turned down a football scholarship to Northwestern to play minor league baseball.
    He completed courses during baseball off seasons to earn a psychology degree from University of Michigan.
    The Mets made the playoffs twice during his tenure, including one World Series appearance (2000).
    He displayed great charisma, enthusiasm and insight on ESPN's 'Baseball Tonight.'
    He was such a popular on-air personality, ESPN added him as a broadcaster for their Sunday Night Baseball game of the week.
    He stole the tabloid 'extramarital affair' spotlight from David Letterman.
    Brooke Hundley's behavior was compared to that of Glenn Close's 'Fatal Attraction' character, so he was punished for his adultery in more ways than one.
