    Known for his prime time sitcom ‘Growing Pains’ and his talk shows ‘The Alan Thicke Show’ and ‘Thicke of the Night’
    He divorced twice.
    He and Simon Cowell could pass as twins.
    As a youth, he held up an ice hockey game for a several minutes when he had his tongue stuck on a metal fixture.
    He composed the theme song to ‘Facts of Life.’
    He was able to make himself the butt of the joke.
    He won a Golden Globe award for his role as Jason Seaver in ‘Growing Pains.’
    His earlier talk show ‘The Alan Thicke Show’ still holds the record as the most successful daytime Canadian show.
    He held degrees in English and Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.
    He volunteered to raise public awareness about diabetes.
    While playing in a charity hockey game, he got hit in the face and required a lot of stitches, but he did not sue.
