Why he might be annoying:

It is not known why he is nicknamed 'Bill.'
When asked: 'Are you willing to mention how many men you have killed, to your precise and certain knowledge?' he replied, 'I assume you mean white men, after all nobody counts Indians, or Mexicans and so forth. Well, I am perfectly willing to swear a solemn oath on the Bible, tomorrow, that I have killed substantially over a hundred.'
In 1867, He was fired as marshall of Abilene, KS, when he mistakenly shot his friend and fellow lawman, Mike Williams, who was coming to his aid.
He was an alcoholic.
He was fired as a marksman with Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show, his drinking caused him to miss his mark.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was nearly killed by a bear but was able to kill the bear with his knife.
He collected a $175 reward when he set up and killed three murderers in a saloon shoot-out.
He stopped shooting and swindling when he fell in love with Martha 'Calmity Jane' Cannary.
It is believed he died with a poker hand consisting of a pair of aces and a pair of eights 'dead man's hand' (August 2, 1876).
