He was only deported and stripped of citizenship for his writings when many others were tortured and killed.
People who supported him were killed, tortured, jailed, or deported.
He was a recluse.
He was accused of being an anti-Semite.
His name is hard to spell.
When his Soviet citizenship was restored in 1990, he moved back to Russia.

He was imprisoned in the Soviet Gulag for criticizing Stalin.
He was a captain in the Russian Army before he was imprisoned.
He brought Western attention to the Soviet concentration camp system.
The trifecta of Solzhenitsyn, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II did the most to bring down Communism.
He started his own literature prize.
He was elected a member of the Russian Academy of Science.
