She survived breast cancer.
She got a break from a childhood friend, who directed 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' and asked her to be in it.

She was forced to end her romance with Clint Eastwood and unfairly threatened with a lawsuit by Warner Brothers.
Warner Brothers made her an offer of nearly $1 million, but did not keep their bargain, so she sued them for not using her projects and for sexual harassment.
