    (February 10, 1901-December 21, 1992)
Instructed in acting by Konstantin Stanislavski
    Member of the Group Theatre
Acted in 'Love on Toast (1937),' 'Shadow of the Thin Man (1941)' and 'My Girl Tisa (1948)'
    She was twice divorced.
For the few film roles she landed, she was often credited as Stella Ardler.
She had left-wing political views and tended to produce plays with 'important' social issues.
She thought acting was way more important than it really is.
She had a bitter feud with Lee Strasberg over the appropriate way to teach method acting.
Some of her famous students include Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Warren Beatty, Elaine Stritch, Mario Van Peebles, Harvey Keitel, and Candice Bergen.
Marlon Brando credited her, along with Elia Kazan, as his real mentor.
She was the only American actor to be taught the teachings of Konstantin Stanislavski by the man himself.
She was blacklisted and therefore had little opportunity to act in films.
She is considered a great influence in contemporary acting.
