    First name also spelled Susanna and Susannah - maiden name was Wilkerson
    Married soldier Almaron Dickinson in 1829
    Moved to Texas in 1831
    Living at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio when Mexican President & General Santa Anna attacked, known as the Battle of the Alamo (February 23 - March 6, 1836)
    One of only two Anglo survivors of the battle (the other being her infant daughter)
    Died at age 68 and buried in Oakwood Cemetery (Austin, Texas)
    She married her soldier husband at age 15.
    She was married five times.
    She was Illiterate.
    After the Alamo, she requested, but was denied, a $500 government payout.
    Before marrying a fifth time, she cheated on husband #4 and became a brothel hooker.
    She was lightly wounded at the Alamo.
    She stated, as she was led from the Alamo, she saw the bodies of Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, but not of her husband, before all the dead were burned.
    After the Alamo, she refused to let Santa Anna take her child, and was sent on her way with a slave named Joe (another survivor) to tell Sam Houston what had happened.
    She wept openly for weeks after the battle, but saw Texas gain independence shortly after her ordeal.
    Her accounts of the Alamo never wavered with whomever she told her story, and were documented as fact and an important part of the history of the event.
    Her second husband smacked her around and her third died of alcoholism.
    She finally found true love with her fifth husband, a cabinet maker, whom she remained loyal to until her death.
    A monument honoring her was placed in Texas State Cemetery in Austin.
