    After the 1983 NCAA championship game, he ran around like a headless chicken, looking for a hug.
    He helped popularize the 'keep fouling and hope they miss their free throws' strategy.
    He was forced to resign as N.C. State's coach/athletic director after accusations of rules violations surfaced.
    He named his autobiography, 'They Gave Me a Lifetime Contract, and Then They Declared Me Dead.'
    He made a goofy cameo with Dick Vitale on 'The Cosby Show.'
    His N.C. State team shocked Houston in the NCAA championship game. It is considered one of the biggest upsets in college basketball history (1983).
    Despite being diagnosed and eventually succumbing to cancer, he continued analyzing games and making speeches for as long as possible.
    A few weeks before his death, he announced a formation of a cancer research foundation during the ESPY Awards.
    He famously said during that ESPY speech, 'Don't give up. Don't ever give up.'
    Anthony LaPaglia portrayed him in a TV movie.
