Musicians
    (1988- )
    Formed in Brooklyn, New York
    Peter Steele (January 4,1962-April 14, 2010, vocalist/bassist)
    Ken Hickey (May 22, 1966- , guitarist)
Josh Silver (November 14,1962- , keyboardist)
Johnny Kelly (March 9, 1968-, drummer)
Recorded 'Slow, Deep and Hard' (1991), 'The Origin of the Feces' (1992), 'Bloody Kisses' (1993), 'October Rust' (1996), 'World Coming Down' (1999), 'The Least Worst of Type O Negative' (2000) and 'Life is Killing Me' (2003)
Released the DVD of 'After Dark' (1998)
Their music is very gloomy and depressing.
The original album cover of 'Origin of the Feces' was a picture of Peter Steele's ass (it was later repackaged,in less offensive material).
Their original drummer, Sal Abruscato, left the band to join Life of Agony.
Peter Steele was in New York's hardcore act 'Carnivore'(which, reputedly, was supposedly very amateurish).
    Peter posed in Playgirl Magazine.
Peter got into a fist fight with the Deftones' Chino Moreno because their set was so long that it cut into Type O's set.
Their music although dark, is mostly dark humor and irony.
Peter Steele has a biting and cynical sense of humor.
They are one of the most influential goth bands of the 90s, influencing bands such as Evanescence.
Although they are not a mainstream band, their 1993 release 'Bloody Kisses' did extremely well as did their 1999 release 'World Coming Down.'
Goth girls find Peter sexy, because of his deep, throaty voice and poise.
    Peter posed for Playgirl (1995).
They toured with Nine Inch Nails, Danzig, Jackyl and Motley Crue.
They covered Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid,' Neil Young's 'Cinnamon Girl,' Jimi Hendrix's 'Hey Joe' and the Beatles' 'Back in the USSR.'
They are based in New York City.
