    He never graduated from college because he refused to take courses he disliked.
    He was divorced.
    He was known to be an impatient man.
    His novel 'Dune' was made into a terrible 1984 film.
    He was inspired by the works of H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, and Edgar Rice Burroughs.
    He served as a photographer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
    It took him six years of research and writing to create 'Dune.'
    'Dune' was voted the greatest sci-fi work of the 20th century, and has a huge fan following.
    He died after a long battle with cancer.
