    With Lorenz Hart wrote music for pop standards such as 'My Funny Valentine,' 'The Lady Is A Tramp,' 'Blue Moon' and 'Isn't It Romantic?'
    With Oscar Hammerstein II composed music for 'South Pacific,' 'Carousel,' 'The Sound of Music' and 'The King and I'
    Died in New York City, New York at 77
    He grew up rich.
    He almost gave up composing to become a kids' underwear salesman.
    He wanted to sue The Marcels for recording 'Blue Moon' with a doo-wop twist.
    Oscar Hammerstein dissuaded him, pointing out all the royalty money that could be made.
    He attended Columbia University.
    He was one of the few people to win an Academy Award, a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony and a Pulitzer Prize.
    He survived jaw cancer, a larynjectomy and a heart attack.
    Numerous schools are named in his honor.
