Why he might be annoying:

He was a weak student.
He was celibate until his mid-fifties, when he finally married.
Most scholars believe he was a closeted homosexual.
Ironically, the Boy Scouts do not accept openly gay members.
He loved watching boys swim naked, and kept pictures of them at home.
He was obsessed with masturbation, and strictly forbid it among his scouts.
One of his favorite hobbies was ‘pig-sticking’ (not a euphemism).

Why he might not be annoying:

His father died when he was a toddler.
He was a talented musician and actor.
He was a spy for the British Empire.
He fought in the Boer War.
He became the youngest-ever colonel in the British Army.
There is no real evidence of improper conduct with his scouts.
Many boys still enjoy the Boy Scouts today.
One way or another, he genuinely loved children.
