Sports Executive
    (April 24, 1933- )
Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada
    Born Robert Alan Eagleson
Progressive Conservative candidate for the York West riding in Toronto (1963, defeated)
First executive director of the National Hockey League Players’ Association (1967–1992)
Clients included Bobby Orr and Darryl Sittler,
Organizer of the first Canada Cup (1976, later the World Cup of Hockey)
First person to be stripped of the Order of Canada honor (1998, fraud)
First resignation from the Hockey Hall of Fame
He was a boozer, a party animal, and a misogynist — often in the same breath.
His Blue and White Group (based on the Maple Leafs colors) included three lawyers and a car dealer.
He routinely defrauded and embezzled from the NHLPA’s members.
    He never played hockey himself.
Bobby Hull described him as having his head up the NHL’s ass.
Nearly 20 Hall of Famers threatened to resign themselves, forcing the Hall to act on a matter they initially wanted no part of.
While on trial for the NHL charges, he continued to wear his Order of Canada pin.
He negotiated Orr’s first professional contract, setting the pattern for player agents.
The Boston Bruins’ farm team, the Springfield Indians (‘hockey’s Siberia’), called him in to depose 37-year owner Eddie Shore.
His active promotion of the 1972 Summit Series, between Canada and the Soviets, paved the way for pro hockey players to compete on a global scale.
He was often at odds with Pal Hal.
Ironically, he was defeated for the York West seat by a Liberal who just happened to be… a Toronto Maple Leaf!
At his trial, many of his biggest supporters just happened to be players he defrauded.
