The Resume

    (November 20, 1932- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
Birth name is Lucy Ann McAleer
Acted in 'A Star is Born (1954),' 'Queen Bee (1955),' 'Bring Your Smile Along (1955),' and 'He Laughed Last (1956)'

Why she might be annoying:

She chose her name out of a three-page booklet sent to her by the studio, settling on 'Marlowe' (she removed the '-e' to make it sound more distinctive).
She reportedly had problems getting along with Joan Crawford during the filming of Queen Bee.
As Betsy Palmer told it: '[Joan] was just like a mother fluttering around Lucy. I thought how nice she's being to this young starlet. That all changed when filming started ... maybe she was impatient that there wasn't the kind of talent that she expected.'
A majority of her scenes in 'A Star is Born' wound up on the cutting room floor after its initial release (the footage is considered permanently lost).

Why she might not be annoying:

She attended the University of Arizona drama school.
She accepted Eva Marie Saint's Look Magazine Award for Supporting Actress during an appearance on the Red Skelton Hour.
She was married to Yankees third baseman Andy Carey for over twenty years.
The iconic 'slap scene' in Queen Bee reportedly sent her off bawling between takes from Crawford smacking her so hard.
She was among the few cast members who had a positive experience working with Judy on the set of 'A Star is Born.'
She retired from film roles after giving birth to a son in 1957.
