Fukuoka Dome is 'major league size,' so it's difficult for Japanese players to hit home runs.
They don't seem to be consistent winners.
Ties are allowed in Japanese baseball (The Pacific league doesn't require teams to make up tied games, so a team with the most wins can still finish in second).

Why they might not be annoying:

They are the only team on the island of Kyushu.
Their mascot is cool.
You can eat Tonkotsu Ramen in the Fukuoka Dome.
They have a catchy theme song!
