First Mexican born player to play in Major League Baseball
Inducted into the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame (1972)

His hitting went into decline after the 1938 season.
He played for four different teams in the final three years of his Major League career.

He threw and batted left-handed.

During a double header against the Browns, he established a Major League record for the most runs scored in one day (9) (1937).
He had a 29 game hitting streak (1938).

Following his baseball career, he spent time in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
